Pictures from various places on the west coast of Malaysia

The Vilage of Teluk Bahang as seen from a tropical fruit farm on the island of Penang.

A warning sign in many languages.

A view of these trees that grow to fill the spaces left by their neighbors - forming a very cool mosaic..

This is a rope bridge through the canopy at FRIM (Forestry Research Institute of Malaysia).

A fishing village in Kuala Selangor.

Fireflies on the banks of the Sungai Selangor. Really there were a butt load of fireflies here and the best part is that they flash synchronously - the whole tree of fireflies lights up at once - and supposedly it's the only spot in the world where this happens. I first learned about it in a computer science colloquium on neural networks.

Jenn doing her best monkey impression.

Sometimes pictures just don't capture the moment like you wish they could.

Monekys hanging out in town at dusk. Notice the brown baby monkey in the lap of the mom.

Ladies and gentlemen - focus your attention to the very top of the big top. That's the Amazing Bobo with no safety nets or harness.

The monkeys arrived at the local mosque just in time for evening prayer.

One last monkey picture.

A hut with a distinctive roof.

A farm we passed on a hike in the Cameron Highlands. Notice the terraced landscape they use.

A temple we passed on the same hike.

The end of the hike to the Boh Tea Estate in the Cameron Highlands. You're allowed to walk right through the plantation but there is a sign at the entrance that said you're not allowed to talk to the workers about unionizing.

Two pictures of Sam Poh Temple that was the end of the previous day's hike.

What do you call a bird with a horn on its bill?

A hornbill.

A scary looking red-eyed pigeon.
